Cookie Policy
A complete list of the cookies and browser storage this store uses, grouped by purpose. Optional categories stay switched off until you allow them, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
The short version
- Strictly necessary storage keeps your cart and your privacy choice working. It is always on.
- Preference, analytics and marketing storage are off by default and load only after you allow them.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, with no effect on prices or service.
- Your consent choice is remembered for up to 180 days, after which we ask again.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Local storage is a similar browser facility that holds slightly more data and does not expire on its own. Both let a site remember something between page views — the contents of a shopping cart, for example, or the fact that you have already answered a privacy question.
This page lists what we store, why, and for how long. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
2. Your current choice on this device
Current status: No choice recorded yet. Optional cookies are disabled.
3. The categories we use
3.1 Strictly necessary
These make the store function. Without them your cart would empty every time you opened a new page, and the cookie banner would reappear on every visit. Because the site cannot operate without them, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off in our settings panel. They are never used for advertising or profiling.
3.2 Preferences
These remember choices you make so the catalog looks the way you left it — the last category filter and sort order you selected. If you decline this category, the catalog simply resets to its default view each visit.
3.3 Analytics
Analytics storage would let us count page views and understand which guides and products visitors find useful, in aggregate. This category is disabled by default. No analytics provider is loaded on this site unless and until you enable the category.
3.4 Marketing
Marketing storage would let us measure whether an advert led to a visit or an order, and cap how often the same promotion is shown to you. This category is also disabled by default, and no advertising or remarketing tag is loaded unless you enable it.
4. Storage we set, in detail
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| hw_consent | Cookie | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie choice so server-side code can respect it | 180 days |
| hw_cookie_consent_v1 | Local storage | Strictly necessary | Records your category choices and the date you made them | 180 days, then re-prompt |
| hw_cart_v1 | Local storage | Strictly necessary | Keeps the items and quantities in your shopping cart | Until you empty the cart or clear storage |
| hw_catalog_prefs_v1 | Local storage | Preferences | Remembers your last catalog filter and sort order | Until you withdraw consent or clear storage |
If you enable analytics or marketing, the relevant provider may set additional identifiers. Any such provider will be listed in an updated version of this table before the tag is activated, and the tag will remain blocked until your consent is recorded.
5. How to control cookies
- Use our settings panel. Open to switch each optional category on or off, then save. The change applies immediately.
- Clear your choice. The "Clear my choice and ask again" button in section 2 removes the stored record and shows the banner again.
- Use your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data. Doing so may empty your cart and will cause the banner to reappear.
- Use private browsing. In a private window, storage is normally discarded when you close the window.
- Manage advertising separately. You can adjust ad personalization in your Google Ad Settings, and opt out of many providers through the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative tools.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of optional categories and keep analytics and marketing disabled unless you explicitly allow them in our panel.
6. What happens if you decline
Nothing is withheld. You can browse every page, read the full buying guide, add items to your cart and submit an order request with optional cookies turned off. The only differences are that the catalog will not remember your filter between visits, and we will have less aggregate information about which pages are useful.
We do not condition access, pricing, shipping rates or the return window on your cookie choice.
7. Changes to this Cookie Policy
If we add a new provider or change what we store, we will update the table above and the "Last updated" date, and we will ask for your consent again where the change requires it. Because consent records carry a version number, an out-of-date choice triggers the banner rather than being silently carried forward.
